What Richard and Menna (Stoke Newington, London) said about their new kitchen splashback

A green glass splashback with adjoining strips has been designed to create a striking splash of colour to this kitchen/diner. The exposed edges have been bevelled and hand polished and with no edge trims needed. The original green bottle glass has undergone a special firing cycle that creates a ray of green hues that allows for the material to practically come alive. The randomised pattern of the glass fragments and colours invites viewers to study the glass and appreciate the natural beauty and spontaneous texture, and it can be compared with any other organic material with its organic look.

The splashback has been fitted by a local tradesman using a clear adhesive between the joints. A hydrophobic anti fingerprint treatment has also been applied to the surface to allow for easy cleaning.

What the homeowner said

“We thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Tyra on our bottle green recycled glass splashbacks for our kitchen / dining refurb.

Complementing the orange formica worktop the splashbacks really inject the colours and sense of fun we were looking for in the area where we spend so much of our time.

Along with the colour, the mottled nature and even the texture of the recycled material is something we couldn’t find in other materials, and it’s fantastic that the environmental credentials of the material is both intrinsic to and enhances the aesthetic, it’s also lovely seeing the light change on the glass at different times of the day.

Tyra was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process, providing samples for the initial selection, along with invaluable technical insight into the size of the panels, edge detailing, fixing methods even down to the logistics of the delivery… We even enjoyed a tour of the workshop.

We would thoroughly recommend Tyra for bespoke environmentally friendly recycled glass splashbacks.”
