Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue

In 2017 I was invited to a friend’s wedding back in Norway. I was delighted to be a guest at his wedding and among the many memories of that day, one stood out – my friend’s fondness for a special edition of Kronenbourg 1667 beer. These bottles were in a striking blue colour.

I remembered my friends’ eyes gleaming with excitement as he raised a toast with these very bottles and kissing his bride. As the festivities came to a close, I couldn't help but cheekily removing these bottles, knowing I would find a new purpose for them.

Years passed, and back in Wales in a corner of my workshop, lay those blue bottles, carefully preserved, - waiting the right time.

When I finally had the opportunity to visit the couple again, I started the process of transformed those bottles into something new, from humble beer bottles to a stunning decorative bowl, telling a story of love and laughter, promises and memories.

When I visited them next, I presented the couple with this unexpected gift and their eyes widened in surprise when I explained that this was the exact same bottles that once were hold by the groom when I he kissed the bride. The memories of their special day, captured within the vibrant blue glass, now transformed into a symbol of their love.
